Where to Find Coal in Palworld
The ideal location to obtain coal is the Twilight Dunes desert near the middle of the map.
Look around this area for large black rocks that have a darker tone than typical stone nodes.
Use any pickaxe to mine coal, but we recommend getting a Metal Pickaxe (15x Stone, 20x Wood, 5x Ingot) to make the mining process much easier. This requires a High Quality Workbench (15x Ingot, 50x Wood, 10x Nails) to make.
There are not that many teleport waypoints in the desert, so it helps to put down a spare Palbox for easy fast traveling back to your base.
Best Locations to Farm Coal in Palworld
The best areas to farm coal include the Twilight Dunes, Verdant Brook, and Mount Obsidian regions. However, the first two are much safer places.
Coal Locations in the Twilight Dunes
There are two spots in the desert that have five coal nodes clustered together. Make sure to equip your heat-resistant armor during the day and cold-resistant armor during the night.
- Location 1: The first location can be found at the coordinates (-157, -92). Be careful as the Alpha Pal boss Anubis can roam nearby.
- Location 2: The second location can be found at the coordinates (-97, -120). This location is on top of a rock formation, so it’s relatively safe from base raids.
Coal Locations in the Verdant Brook
It helps to have a flying mount when scouting for coal nodes in the Verdant Brook. Otherwise, you will find yourself climbing a lot.
- Location 1: The first location can be found at the coordinates (189, -40). It has eight ore nodes.
- Location 2: The second location can be found at the coordinates (290, -20). There are seven nodes just to the east.
Coal Locations in Mount Obsidian
There are many deposits found across the volcanic landscape of Mount Obsidian. Make sure you wear heat-resistant armor.
The ideal location for coal in this area is near the base of the mountain.
Palworld Coal Recipes
Coal is especially useful for mid and late-game content. This resource is mainly for making Refined Ingot (2x Coal, 2x Ore) at an improved furnace (100x Stone, 30x Cement, 15x Flame Organs).
Refined Ingots are a superior source of metal for gear crafting, but they require you to build a Production Assembly Line (100x Ingot, 50x Wood, 20x Nails, 10x Cement) to create most things with them.
