Helldivers 2 Temporarily Caps Players at 450K, Updates Coming

Arrowhead Game Studios is temporarily capping Helldivers 2 servers to 450,000. New updates to address login and matchmaking are coming.

Right now, the servers are crushed, causing major issues resulting in matchmaking queues and people trying to stay logged in overnight. This strategy has been enabled by the lack of an AFK timer, which has made matters impossible for people who want to play the game.

On Discord, Helldivers 2 production director Alex Bolle said, “We have improvements rolling out this week focused on the most serious problems in the game: login, matchmaking, and server load. You will see one update for PC and PS5, though please keep in mind that no single update will solve all the issues. Rather, we will be making continuous improvements over the days and weeks to come.”

Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt made the above post and is at least somewhat serious.

Bolle wants to manage expectations but it’s good to know that one step in the right direction will be taken. Another catalyst for the problem has been the double XP event running from Friday through Sunday, which was meant to solve another issue that stopped players from earning XP.
