As you complete missions, you will need to undertake specific objectives based on the type of enemy you are fighting, which include Terminids and Automatons. The Terminids are insects that demand you eradicate their sources to stop the spread, while Automatons require you to shut down industrial outposts. This includes having to destroy Fuel Silos.
Fuel Tanks appear frequently throughout the missions with Automatons that you will need to take out. Unfortunately, the game does not clearly explain how.
How to Destroy Fuel Silos in Helldivers 2
You must use a special Stratagem known as a Hellbomb, which can only be used when targeting the Silos. Once called in, the Hellbomb needs to be armed instead of automatically exploding in impact.
As you approach a Fuel Silo, you’ll notice that you will receive a new Stratagem once you are in range.
When you have access to a Hellbomb, you can place it in the position you want it to be in (ensure it’s close to the Fuel Tank). Ensure the surrounding area is clear of every enemy before calling it in. If enemies can swarm the bomb and damage it, the Hellbomb will be destroyed before it can be armed.
Once the Hellbomb is armed, you will need to immediately run to avoid the blast radius, which does a ton of damage. It will not just destroy the Fuel Silo, but every enemy in the vicinity. After the smoke and fire clears, you will no longer see the Fuel Silo existing.
