The boss fights in Metroid Dread are challenging and take place in battles that span multiple phases. Every boss has their own unique mechanics to overcome and master.

Metroid Dread (2021) is exclusively available on Nintendo Switch.

Corpius Metroid Dread Boss Fight

corpius metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Corpius in Artaria. The reward for this encounter is the Phantom Cloak.

Phase 1

Corpius will only use three moves during the initial phase.

  • The tail will strike you and draw back into a coil. Simply jump over it.
  • Acid ball projectiles will come flying at Samus. Shoot them for missiles and energy.
  • The tail strikes down from above.

Keep aiming at the head and shoot Corpius with Charged Beams or missiles. When it pulls back for an overhead attack, run toward the boss. While under the tail, you will only have several seconds to unload before getting hit.

Phase 2

After you deal enough damage, Corpius turns invisible. The only target you can see is the glowing spot near the tail tip.

The moves are identical to Phase 1, but keep aiming at the glowing spot. Your Power Beam will handle the fight, so do not waste any missiles.

Phase 3

Corpius will be visible once again but turn his back on you. Slide below it, and as you pass the head, hit it with a Melee Counter. This will allow you to briefly fire a series of missiles right into its mouth.

Phase 4

You will now fight Corpius in the opposite direction. There is only a single new ability.

  • Acid will shoot in a line towards you. When this takes place, jump up to the Spider Magnet panel sitting on the wall.

The rest of this phase is identical to Phases 2 and 3. Use the Spider Magnet panel to jump over the boss when it starts creeping up on you.

Kraid Metroid Dread Boss Fight

kraid metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Kraid in Catarsis.

Phase 1

Kraid uses two different attacks.

  • He will throw his talons. You can shoot them mid-air with missles.
  • He will spit a series of balls at you, several of which are on fire. It’s easier to strafe from side to side and keep shooting upwards using your Power Beam.

Your goal is to keep shooting Kraid in the head with missiles then in the mouth with missiles when the opportunity arises. Ignore the neck and nose. You will receive health and missiles.

Keep your position to the far left as long as possible, then unload missiles in rapid succession.

Phase 2

You will fight against the belly of Kraid in this phase. He will use three different attacks.

  • Ricochet balls that bounce back and forth. Shoot them or avoid them.
  • Acid balls that will splash once they hit the ground. Jump over them.
  • Three horizontal spikes. Duck from these attacks by switching to the Morph Ball.

All you need to target is the open purple spot on Kraid’s belly. Your Power Beam alone will provide sufficient damage.

A technique that will help make this phase easier is to keep to the left, and repeatedly use Charge Beam to fire projectiles out of thin air and the belly hole of Kraid at the same time. You can also keep unloading regular shots as well.

Once you have dealt enough damage, Kraid will cover his belly and launch a final spike attack. Then, a Spider Magnet panel will reveal itself. Ride it up to the third phase.

Phase 3

You will face similar attacks in this phase as you did during Phase 1, but you are restrained to the Spider Magnet panel. If you fall, you will have to repeat Phase 2.

By repeatedly firing missiles at his face, you will be able to continuously block the ongoing talons.

Kraid uses two attacks in this phase.

  • His far right hand will swipe at you. You can easily Melee Counter to deal extra damage.
  • His left hand will pull back and deliver a forward punch. You will have no choice but to drop off the panel for this attack.

Robot Chozo Soldier Metroid Dread Boss Fight

Find your fight with Robot Chozo Soldier, in Ferenia. It’s relatively short, fast-paced, but quite intense.

Robot Chozo Soldier uses four different attacks.

  • Beam shots. Jump over them.
  • Charged beam shot. Jump over this.
  • Blue slash. Use a Melee Counter to receive energy and missiles.
  • Red flash. Use Flash Shift two times to go behind the boss.

This fight requires you to continuously unload missiles and keep Flash Shifting over the boss. Keep your distance as much as possible, and stay out of the way.

Drogyga Metroid Dread Boss Fight

drogyga metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Drogyga in Burenia.

Phase 1

You need to target and shoot the tentacle sitting on the top of the boss. Use Charged Shots and Power Beam more frequently than missiles in this phase.

Drogyga has three attacks.

  • Drogyga will drop three projectiles on you, one red and two blue. You can shoot the blue ones for missiles and energy. The red ones take no damage, so simply avoid those.
  • Drogyga will slash you with its tentacles. Remain in a corner and jump over these. It helps to move toward Drogyga while jumping.

After you have shot the tentacles, keep shooting the button on the wall with Charged Shot, then use Grapple Beam to raise yourself to the Spider Magnet panel sitting on the ceiling. Ride your way to the far side, and fire a Charged Shot at the button.

The weak point expose the moment Drogyga opens its mouth. Keep firing missiles as quickly as possible. After you deal enough damage, Drogyga will use one of its tentacles. Melee Counter it to enter the Grab Phase.

Phase 2

Everything will remain familiar in the second phase.

  • Projectiles will keep spawning, but now two of them will be red and only one blue. Destroy the blue to have a spot to escape.
  • The tentacle slashes are faster, so remain in the corner to provide yourself more time.
  • All three of the tentacles will coil along the floor. When this occurs, use the Grapple Beam to go to the ceiling.

Repeat until you defeat the boss.

Chozo Soldier Metroid Dread Boss Fight

chozo soldier metroid dread boss fight

You will fight more than one Chozo Soldier throughout the course of your journey in Metroid Dread. However, all of them follow the same pattern.

Phase 1

The initial phase is simple. All you have to do is jump and Flash Shift back and forth with constant shooting.

When the Chozo Soldier attaches to the wall, wait for its jump, then Flash Shift away.

Phase 2

The Chozo Soldier leaps to the center of the room when it jumps off the wall. Stay at the edge and wait for it to land. You will face two waves that you have to jump over.

Its attacks have longer reach. Once you see it backflip, jump behind it with Flash Shift.

Once you have dealt enough damage, you will encounter a Grab Sequence. Simply Melee Counter twice to defeat the boss.

Escue Metroid Dread Boss Fight

escue metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Escue in Ferenia. You wil receive the Storm Missiles as a reward.

Phase 1

Escue spams three attacks on a constant basis.

  • Black projectile. When this hits the ground, it will briefly pause then send out a pulse which you need to jump over. It will not pulse on walls, however.
  • Purple missile storm. Double Jump then Flash Shift to avoid these.
  • Charge Attack. Avoid this as Melee Counter will not work.

When Escue surrounds itself with purple energy, keep dodging and wait for your next opportunity to attack. Then, unload a whole series of missiles.

Phase 2

There are less mechanics to worry about in the second phase. Keep firing missiles into the spore. Once it knocks back, simply jump and Flash Shift over, then wait for the flashing to stop.

Keep firing and dodging until Escue is down.

Twin Robot Chozo Soldiers Metroid Dread Boss Fight

twin robot chozo soldier metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with the Twin Chozo Soldiers on Ferenia. This encounter is literally just two Chozo Soldiers facing Samus at the same time.

With your new Storm Missiles handy, this battle is much easier. Start charging them up at the get-go.

Work on the silver Chozo Soldier in the beginning, as it takes less hits to down. Avoid getting hit with jumps and Flash Shifts wile keeping the target beam aimed at the silver Robot Chozo Soldier. After you have several targets on it, let your missiles fly at it.

After dealing with the silver Chozo Soldier, you can focus your efforts on the gold one. Repeat the same process as the original.

Experiment No. Z-57 Metroid Dread Boss Fight

experiment no. z-57

Corpius gets reanimated on Cataris to become Experiment No. Z-57.

Phase 1

The boss has two primary attacks in the first phase.

  • It spits pink goo in two separate streams. You will need to place yourself at a clear spot while targeting the head with your Storm Missiles. Avoid damage, get to a safe place, then head for it.
  • It will swipe two times, from the opposing sides of the room. You can easily Space Jump right over this.

Once it points its head towards the ceiling, get close to it and use Melee Counter when the opportunity strikes. Keep using missiles the whole way through.

Phase 2

The boss has two new attacks in the second phase.

  • It will activate some fans that force you to the left side. You will need to run, jump, Space Jump, and dodge yoru way through the pink chevron beams. This sequence is the same, so you will learn with practice.
  • It will use a third swipe in addition to the first two, so you’ll need to jump again.

Keep using Storm Missles and dodging the goo, then wait for an opportunity to use Melee Counter and finally defeat the boss.

Golzuna Metroid Dread Boss Fight

golzuna metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Golzuna in Ghavoran. This encounter takes place in small bits over multiple forms.

For the first two, keep sliding underneath its legs and shoot it from behind like you would any regular enemy.

When the third form faces you, go to the corners and wait for it to back up. Charge your Storm Missles, slide under its feet, then turn around and release the missles at the backside. Every now and again, it will fire out a blue or pink energy orb. Avoid these.

Raven Beak Metroid Dread Boss Fight

raven beak metroid dread boss fight

Find your fight with Raven Beak in Itorash.

Phase 1

He will hold his arms up, filling the arena with pink energy. Run close to him and wait for the lasers to stop firing. When he begins to swing at you, jump and Flash Shift over him.

Next, he will charge and fire a black energy sphere. Take it out quickly as it will continue to engorge until destroyed. You will receive some health and ammo.

Soon after, he will attack with three melee strikes. Simply jump and Flash Shift when this happens. This is especially bad if you get stuck to the wall.

Keep in mind that is invulnerable with a golden aura. Stop firing and focus on dodging. You only need to wait for Melee Counters. There are three particular opportunities to use this ability:

  • He turns his back to the camera and fires a pink beam. Duck under and use Melee Counter.
  • He stands up straight and makes a taunting gesture. Get close up to him and Melee Counter. You will have two prompts for this one.
  • He will charge his hand with a red glow. There is a chance you can use a Melee Counter as he approaches. Run toward him once he begins moving and hit the button immediately.

Phase 2

Raven Beak will unfurl his wings in the second phase. There is no opportunity to heal or pick up ammo this time. He uses three attacks:

  • Charge attack. Just slide under it.
  • Downward slam. Move out of the way.
  • Heavy beam attack. Dodge.
  • Bullet storm. Keep Space Jumping and Flash Shifting in a circle around the boss to avoid the bullets.

Phase 3

The third phase is quite difficult, and many attacks are incredibly hard to avoid. Fortunately, you can collect orbs once more for ammo and health.

You simply need to survive long enough to perform Melee Counters, while hitting Raven Beak with missiles. Only one or two counters are necessary to win the fight, so you merely need to survive long enough to have the opportunity.

  • Avoid the flame sphere.
  • A heavy blast will reach across the screen. Watch out.
  • He will dash at you with only a brief moment of warning. Simply slide or Flash Shift through it.
  • You will need to avoid the red fist attack once more.

Phase 4

The final phase pits you up versus Raven Beak X. You just need to hold down your fire button. Next, dash towards your ship and keep firing your new Hyper Beam while running.
