Halo Infinite will not receive a Season 6. Rather, 343 Industries is focusing on short, free Operations that will come about once a month (every 4-6 weeks).
In a community livestream, 343 Industries focused on what players of the free-to-play FPS can reasonably expect in the coming weeks. The answer is a ton of Operations.
Starting on January 30, there will be a new Halo Wars-themed Operation, new customization options, and a new map.
During the stream, Halo Infinite‘s community director Brian Jerrard stated Operations are what the team is “leaning into” and a “big part” of the game going forward.
Operations were initially introduced during Season 5: Reckoning, and while they are comparable to seasons, the main difference is that all of their rewards can be obtained for free for a limited time.
Previously, seasons in Halo Infinite would last between 4 to 6 months. On the other hand, Operations would last only a few weeks. As is the case with seasons, players can buy a premium version to gain permanent access to the Operations. This means that once an operation has run its course, it becomes available to buy on the game’s store for players who missed out on rewards for its limited-time run.
For example, if you purchase the premium version of the Spirit of Fire operation which concludes Season 5, you will receive a skin for the Assault Rifle that transforms the appearance into the MA5B from Combat Evolved.
Future operations taking place after Spirit of Fire include The Yappening 2 and Cyber Showdown 3, complete with new cosmetics for players to earn.
On January 30, Halo Infinite will include a free Mark IV armor core (to look like the Spartans from Halo Wars), the ability to use shoulder pads on any armor core, and a new map featuring a symmetrical arena. The update also adds three new helmets inspired by the live-action TV series on Paramount+, whose second season starts February 8.
New options for Forge, including new Covenant buildings and objects, alien fauna, and Flood-themed objects, are coming as well.
343 Industries also recently added Firefight, a co-op wave defense mode, to Halo Infinite. In other news, the rumored Halo battle royale game set to be created by Certain Affinity, a support studio for Infinite, has been canceled.
