Destiny 2 Is Getting a Horde Mode

destiny 2 onslaught

Bungie, the developer of Destiny 2, has revealed a new horde mode for the popular FPS called “Onslaught.” It is arriving for all players during the April 9 update, which is a core component of the upcoming Into the Light content patch.

Onslaught is a wave-based activity that has fireteams of 3 players fighting across slighting-edited Crucible maps, where allies must defend a war asset from taking damage from incoming enemies.

Between the different waves, you can quickly acquire and place down defenses like turrets, tripwires, and a decoy Sweeper Bot that can soak up bullets.

There will be two versions of Onslaught, including a vanilla 10-wave option and a harder 50-wave Challenge mode. The latter rotates the location that players need to defend every 10 waves, warping you to a nearby ship to fight enemies there, and of course deal with meaty boss enemies.

Generally speaking, Into the Light is meant to keep Destiny 2 players occupied until the release of the delayed The Final Shape expansion in June.

Despite Bungie’s challenges in recent years amid tons of layoffs and reorganization of management, the developer has offered players tons of meaningful rewards with the introduction of hoverboards, a character creator that lets you make changes after starting the game, and a collaboration with Mass Effect.
