Tips & Tricks
Easier Battles
When you step on certain spots, a pack of monsters will appear and walk around. Wait in front of that spot for the monster to walk onto the spot, then walk into it. You will face a different battle with the monster NOT the tile/environment/area battle.
Fast Save
If you want to save without dying do this: press START on Controller 1, and then press UP+START on Controller 2. The save screen will appear, and you can then either Save or Continue.
Final Guardian
When fighting your shadow, move to the left side of the screen and press B repeatedly. Your shadow may hit you once or twice, but you should land many more strikes during that time.
Pass Through Doors
To pass through locked doors without a key, simply turn yourself into a fairy (using the Fairy spell) and float on through. This isn’t useful if you need to collect an item on the other side of the door in question, however.
Quicker Recovery In Towns
As soon as you step back out of the magic healer’s house, you can start casting LIFE on yourself repeatedly (you will have to re-open the magic menu between casts to re-cast) and as long as your magic bar hasn’t filled to 100%, it will keep refilling. In the case of Nabooru, this shaves 30-to-45 seconds off town visits.
This works great if you are level-grinding around Nabooru, since the magic healer (orange) is in the first town screen but the health healer (red) is in the third.
Sword Skills
The Upward Strike is found in the village of Darunia (on the northwest side of the eastern island). Use the Jump spell to leap up to the rooftop of the house with a chimney. Stand on the chimney and press DOWN to enter the building, then head right and descend to the cellar to meet with the knowledgeable warrior who will impart the skill.
The Downward Strike is found in Mido, the town on the eastern side of the mainland, near the dock where you can first use the raft. Cast the Jump spell to reach the open door, visible on the church’s second exterior floor. Enter that door and head to the right to find your teacher.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is an action role-playing game developed by Nintendo and initially released in 1987 for the Famicom.
