Zelda Fan Project Imagines ‘Ocarina of Time’ a la Studio Ghibli

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a fan released an animated short of Castle Town that reimagines the setting told like a Studio Ghibli film.

These kinds of incredible creations come in the wake of fan hype for the officially announced live-action movie that will be made by Nintendo in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Made in Unreal Engine 5 by YouTuber RwanLink, the creator said the characters and environment took four months to make for a total of more than 600 hours of work while also in a full-time job.

The video shows Link departing Kokiri Forest for Hyrule Castle, with familiar faces including Fi and Malon. It also includes footage of Rwanlink playing as Link in third person and walking around Castle Town.

This demo really makes you wonder why there hasn’t yet been a Zelda game using the aesthetics and art style of Studio Ghibli. It also makes you question why we’re getting a live-action adaptation instead of an anime film.
