The War Within and Season of Discovery May Have The Same Villain

Xal’atath plays a large role in WoW’s next retail expansion, The War Within. However, the character may be coming to Classic Season of Discovery as well.

Despite there being no connection between WoW Classic and retail (modern) WoW in terms of gameplay, systems, and time period for the story, something has been uncovered. Players think they have found a startling connection to the modern version of Blizzard’s MMO in the form of a Void-shrouded figure.

Season of Discovery is designed as a new spin on vanilla WoW, with new class abilities, reworked dungeons and raids, and the potential resurrection of cut content.

However, because of the lack of connection between legacy and retail content, it’s very surprising that the villain who is confirmed to play a major role in the 10th expansion may have appeared in the Season of Discovery.

According to Bellular, a longtime WoW content creator, a new quest chain added sees players venturing into a revamped version of an old dungeon known as Blackfathom Deeps, which has been remade into a 10-player raid. This is in order to collect a mysterious object known as The Box, which has the ability to infuse the Void into armor. The quest has players going to Hillsbard Foothills in which a mysterious light crystal not seen before in the original game, can be discovered. Using this crystal, The Box can be destroyed, leaving behind a single shard of the Void.

This is exactly why conspiracy theories are going haywire in the community. There is a mysterious elven figure who comes out of the void with a tempting offer. Instead of destroying the shard, this “Shadow Figure” proposes the idea of using it to craft a piece of armor to “destroy evil or whatever it is you lot do.”

If players agree, the Shadowy Figure will teach players the recipes necessary to craft Void-Touched armaments, which are some of the highest-quality items in Season of Discovery.

From the interaction to the Void-masked elven appearance to the dialogue of poking fun at players and the nature of the quest itself, all roads lead to Xal’atath.
