Even with Barbie (2023) helping to drive sales of toy products, Mattel is now working with Warner Bros. Discovery to create a Hot Wheels movie. The studio is currently scrambling to get a director in place for the project.
In accordance with an article from The Hollywood Reporter, there is no script at the moment for Hot Wheels. Despite this, Warner Bros. is working to find a director; seeing as how they are the only group of artists not on strike like their writer and actor counterparts.
Bad Robot, the production company of J.J. Abrams, is making the film based on the iconic Mattel toy cars.
