Rumor: Ubisoft Games To Return To Steam

It appears as though Ubisoft could be bringing back some of its games to the Steam platform after being off of it for several years. One particular title is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the most recent entry in the best-selling historical action-adventure franchise.

YoobieRe, a user on Github, has recently discovered that the source code on the Ubisoft Connect page for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been updated to include the word “Steam.” It translates to “Internal Dev/QC – Assassin’s Creed Valhalla [STEAM].”

Unfortunately, Ubisoft declined to comment when asked by Insider Gaming. If the games are returning to Valve’s digital distribution marketplace, it would be a major move given that Ubisoft has favored releasing games through its own Uplay launcher and the Epic Games Store.

Still, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the next core entry in the long-running franchise, is listed for a release on PC but only has a page on the Epic Games Store.

The French developer’s last release on Steam was Trials Rising back in February 2019, almost four years ago.

Valhalla received positive critical reception for its narrative risks, a renewed focus and clarity on the modern story, and its rich Vikings setting.
