Tomb Raider fans rejoice! A new animated series, called Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will premiere on Netflix in October 2024.
Based on the highly popular action-adventure series of games from Crystal Dynamics, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft has its plot within the same continuity as the modern reboot trilogy that began in 2013. Specifically, the events of the show will take place after the story of Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018).
Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger, The Duchess) will star in the titular role as the voice of Croft. Legendary Television and DJ2 Entertainment are serving as producers, with the animation being done by Powerhouse Animation Studios (Castlevania, Masters of the Universe).
It’s great to see more and more beloved gaming franchises receive animated adaptations. After the success of the recent release of Tomb Raider: I-III Remastered, it only makes sense that fans of the series would want something extra to go along with it. It also helps bring new fans in to join the party. Another great example of this is none other than Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which helped restore interest in Cyberpunk 2077 after its tumultuous launch.
