Here are all the guides, tips, and strategies to enjoy playing Tomb Raider II (1997) with cheats and unlockables.
Cheats
If the PAL codes do not work, consider using the NTSC versions of the same codes.
All Weapons & Refill of Ammo
- NTSC version: Hold walk (R1) and sidestep left, sidestep right, sidestep left, step back, and step forward. Release walk, turn around three times in either direction, back flip, and roll in mid-air (Down + Square, Circle).
- PAL version: Light a flare (L2). Hold walk (R1) and use the D-Pad to step forward, then step back. Release walk, turn around three times in either direction, then back flip (Down + Square).
- Alternate version 1: Hold Walk and then step right, step left, step right, step left, step back, step forward, and turn three times in either direction. Then back flip (Down + Square).
- Alternate version 2: Hold walk and then step left, right, left, back, forward. Then spin around two times in either direction. Then quickly do a backflip and roll (Square + back and then Circle).
Exploding Lara
Hold walk (R1) and use the D-Pad to step forward then step back. Still holding walk, turn around three times in either direction, then back flip (Down + Square).
Infinite Flares
Enable the All Weapons Cheat above, then press Triangle to draw pistols (not sure if it matters which guns are selected). Press L2. A flare will appear even if there are no flares in inventory.
Level Skip
- NTSC version: Hold walk (R1) and use the D-Pad to sidestep left, sidestep right, sidestep left, step back, and step forward. Release walk, turn around three times in either direction, jump forward, and roll in mid-air (Up + Square, Circle).
- PAL version: Light a flare (L2). Hold walk (R1) and use the D-Pad to step forward, then step back. Release walk, and turn around three times in either direction. Then jump forward (Up + Square).
- Alternate version 1: Hold walk and step left, right, left, forward, then back. Release walk and hold Left to spin around three times. Then quickly do a forward jump and roll (Square + back and then Circle).
- Alternate version 2: Spin around two times in either direction. Then quickly do a forward jump and roll (Square + forward and then Circle).
Tips & Tricks
Find the Secret Room
Lara has a secret room in her mansion. To find it, go into the maze and keep going left until you have to go right. You’ll see a brick wall, then two openings. Take the opening on the right and fall into the hole. Travel until you see a button on the wall, then push it to open the secret room in the mansion. The door is on a timer, so you’ll have to move fast if you want to get inside the room.
Get Rid of The Pesky Butler
Want to make the butler stop following you around the mansion? Go into the kitchen and walk into the freezer. Wait for the butler to arrive. When he enters the freezer, jump over him, and then lock him inside.
How to Do a Handstand
This Easter egg won’t help you beat up bad guys, but it looks cool. Hold the Walk button while Lara is hanging from a ledge, then press Up to watch her perform a handstand.
How to Use D-Pad Controller Commands
Use the D-Pad on the game controller for certain basic commands in Tomb Raider II. To walk, hold R1 and press the D-Pad in the indicated direction. To sidestep, hold R2 and press the D-Pad in the indicated direction. Release R1 and R2 when jumping or spinning.
Listen to the Tomb Raider II Soundtrack on a CD Player
If you have a physical copy of the game, insert the disc into an audio CD player. Go to track #2 or higher to hear the game’s music and voice-over narrations.
