HK-55 is an assassin droid introduced in the Knights of the Fallen Empire (KotFE) expansion of Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) that serves Lana Beniko. Here is how to get HK-55 in SWTOR.
Prerequisites
In order to unlock HK-55 as a recruitable companion in SWTOR, you must first have the following prerequisites:
- Complete the Alliance Alert called ‘To Find a Findsman’.
- Complete Chapter IX: The Alliance from Knights of the Fallen Empire (KotFE).
After meeting the following requirements for eligibility, you will then receive Alliance Alert: Arma Rasa, which can be accepted from the Companions and Contacts window. Completing this unlocks a bonus chapter mission for the KotFE expansion called Shroud of Memory.
HK-55 can be recruited by all characters who have unlocked the bonus chapter. It still needs to be completed on one character to have HK-55 available across your legacy.
Having been a subscriber to the game between January 11, 2016, to August 1, 2016, makes HK-55 instantly available to access via the Cartel Market.
How to Complete Shroud of Memory
Shroud of Memory is a questline that has you playing as HK-55 throughout the duration on a mission to stop The Shroud, a legendary freelance spy.
You will work alongside an amnesiac droid named Z0-0M, who also becomes recruitable as a result of completing this questline.
HK-55 has its own unique abilities that make it powerful in single-target and AoE abilities.
- Rifle Blast (1.5s cd) – A series of ranged shots for an NPC.
- Charging In (15s cd) – Charge to a distant target, immobilizing it for 2 seconds.
- Checking Out (15s cd) – Roll backward while placing a stun mine at the feet of the target.
- Blindside (1.5s cd) – Take advantage of a distracted target, firing a well-placed decisive shot for weapon damage. Can only be used on targets suffering status effects.
- Rail Blast (6s cd) – High-velocity short-range rail blast that damages the target for energy damage, burns them with plasma, snares them, and sends weaker targets flying.
- Terminate (15s cd) – Launch a series of micro-missiles, dealing high damage to all targets within 6 meters of the target. Weak and Standard enemies are knocked into the air on the impact of the final salvo of missiles.
- Assassinate (30s cd) – Take careful aim at a target and deal excessive damage. Killing an enemy instantly resets the cooldown.
- Weapons Check (15s cd) – Regenerates health while channeling. Not usable in combat.
After speaking to Z0-0M, your next objective will be to defeat the Security Droids. Put Z0-0M in Heal mode, as it is considered the best healing companion in the game across all classes.
Once the droids are defeated, speak to The Shroud.
In order to call for help, Z0-0M recommends you move away from the jamming device that’s scrambling HK-55’s communications.
Enter the Coil and escape from Shroud’s Base. You will run into more Security Droids.
Open the door, and see a bunch of heads of droids held in captivity by The Shroud.
Your next objective will be to fight X-TR0. It will shoot rockets on the ground, so dodge the red circles.
You will then run into Jollo, a servant of The Shroud who cleans the base. Choose to terminate him or imprison him.
Soon after, you’ll run into Mercenaries and more Security Droids. Defeat them and move on. You can access the terminals scattered around for a bonus reward.
Eventually, you’ll enter the sea floor with additional droids to fight.
Make your way through to the door which will bring you back indoors. The water will be drained. There will be more terminals to activate as a bonus objective.
Proceed through Anchor Base, then run into Exarch Malforia, trapped in a cell. You will have a choice to kill or release her. If you release her, she becomes a companion.
You will have an opportunity to go back and re-listen to any of the terminals you activated as bonus objectives, which will give you more info on The Shroud.
Take the elevator up and out of Shroud’s Base.
Exit onto the surface, and be greeted with additional Mercenaries to fight.
There is an AB-6H Guardian Droid awaiting you at the far end.
Inside, you’ll encounter Solder Droids. Defeat them and move on.
Now you’ll come across a copy of HK-55, which is quite hostile. Z0-0M is quick to help you.
After the copy is destroyed, you will escape back to the base on Odessen and confront The Shroud.
That will complete the quest! As a reward, both HK-55 and Z0-0M will become recruitable companions. Access them across your legacy via the Cartel Market.
