Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Unlockables & Cheats

super smash bros. ultimate unlockables & cheats

Here are all the guides, tips, and strategies to enjoy playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with unlockables and cheats.

Characters

You will begin Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with the original 8 characters from Smash 64. The three methods to unlock characters in the game (except for Mii Fighters) are as follows:

  • Free Captive Spirits in World of Light (Adventure Mode)
  • Complete Classic Mode with any character
  • Keep playing matches in Smash Mode

New challengers will be harder to defeat as you unlock more in the overall roster. Unless you play the World of Light, the last handful of challengers will be extremely challenging opponents.

If you lose the match when facing your challenger, they will not appear by replaying Classic Mode or VS. Mode. Rather, you will need to keep checking for a Challenger’s Approach notification in the Games and More hub.

When you rematch a fighter, you don’t need to use the same character to trigger their appearance. You can opt for a character you’re more comfortable with when facing off against a challenger again.

Via Classic Mode

You can clear Classic Mode with certain characters to unlock new fighters. Every time you complete Classic Mode, you’ll face a challenger. By defeating the challenger, you will unlock them as a playable character.

Character unlocks through Classic Mode appear in groups. With each group, by using the previous characters in the group to clear Classic Mode, you’ll face the next challenger in that group.

After unlocking every challenger in a group, you will face the first character in a different group.

True Ending & New Game Plus

In the World of Light, you can unlock the true ending to the game’s campaign. During the Final Battle, you will see both Master Hand and Crazy Hand sitting on the map.

Defeat Master Hand, which will give the forces of light the advantage. Defeat Dark Spirits to make Master Hand reappear, then beat Master Hand once again.

Defeat Crazy Hand, which will give the forces of darkness the advantage. Defeat Light Spirits to make Crazy Hand reappear, then beat Crazy Hand once again.

Once both hands are free, you must readjust the balance between light and dark. You can achieve this by ensuring a relatively equal number of spirits on the board representing both sides. Once equal, the path to the top will lead to an engagement with Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Go there to witness the True Ending.

After achieving the True Ending, you can enter a New Game+ on your save file. This resets the spirits and bosses on the map, allowing you to earn more skill spheres and copies of the same spirits.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a crossover fighting game developed by HAL Laboratory and released in 2018 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
