Valve is reportedly working on an update for Steam that will allow users to hide their sex games. In recent years, the platform opened the floodgates to allow explicit content and experiences to be listed on the storefront, which has resulted in an abundance of erotic titles.
While there are privacy settings in place that allow Steam users to hide their play activity and list of owned games, many players take pride in their logged hours and achievements. Unfortunately, by engaging with erotic titles, that activity gets displayed as well without turning on near-total profile invisibility.
To combat this problem, many users have gone out of their way to make secondary “shadow” accounts designed to experience erotic titles without anyone knowing. Fortunately, now, it seems as if Valve is providing a better solution to this dilemma.
Pavel Djundik, creator of SteamDB and a reputable data miner, was the first to discover the supposed update and went on X (formerly Twitter) to share a picture of what the process could look like.
According to the post by Djundik, a user will be able to mark a game as private to hide the title, logged time, achievements, and more from friends. This will allow them to enjoy living out their fantasies by playing games like Koikatsu Party, HuniePop, and more without the fear of prying eyes.
The good news is that this feature will extend beyond adult-themed games and work for any title in your Steam library. There’s a good chance some people may want to hide putting over 5,000 hours into some of their favorite titles.
This represents an unprecedented quality of life improvement to the current privacy options offered by Steam, which have been quite basic given how long the platform has been around. Apparently, Valve is working on adding parental controls too, according to Djundik. This protects children from buying games without permission and also with playtime restrictions.
