Steam is finally introducing timed free trials for games, so you can demo them before making an investment of your hard-earned money.
This is likely in response to people taking advantage of the 2-hour refund window after making purchases, a feature that has been a part of Valve’s digital distribution service for years.
The first game to receive the free trial feature on Steam is none other than the Dead Space remake, the highly anticipated return to the third-person shooter survival-horror series featuring engineer Isaac Clarke. It appears as though this trial strictly coincides with the current sale of the game, which suggests it will last until May 29.

At the moment, no official confirmation from Valve exists on if this free trial option will extend to other titles. But it obviously should.
Demos are an honest, old-fashioned way to advertise an interactive experience before a customer buys. Nintendo’s been doing it on Switch since the beginning, so why doesn’t everyone else?
