Starfield – How to Sell Ships

starfield how to sell ships

Whether bought, stolen, or found, here is how to sell ships in Starfield using Ship Services.

Over time, you will accumulate a large number of ships. Certain ships can be purchased or given as mission rewards. You can even commandeer ships like a pirate and add those you stole to your collection.

Where to Sell Ships in Starfield

Before you sell any of your ships, you first need to find Ship Services, the game’s hub for ship repairs and upgrades.

You can locate Ship Serves at nearly every major city spaceport in Starfield and also at several small outposts. The good news is that players will be introduced to a Ship Services Technician very early on in their journey.

One of the earliest Ship Services Technicians is located in New Atlantis next to the Transit Authority Kiosk, directly in front of the landing area.

How to Sell a Ship in Starfield

Simply approach a Ship Services Technician, and start a conversation with them. Choose the dialogue option “Let me see what ships you have for sale.” This will bring up a list of available ships for that specific location. Every Ship Services Technician you find in Starfield offers different arrays of ships.

Find the ‘Sell’ command prompt at the bottom of your screen, which is discovered by switching from ‘Buy’ to ‘Sell’ in the Ship Overview. You can see the value of each of your ships at the bottom of the information menu before selling.

How to Steal Ships for Profit in Starfield

If you’re in the business of smuggling, you can easily use the piracy mechanics in Starfield to make credits regularly.

Make sure to invest in the Targeting Control Systems skill, found in the Tech branch. This lets you target ships’ engines to commandeer them.

Next, use the Ship Builder to install basic upgrades to weapons and shields. Keep in mind that ships cannot be docked and boarded until combat concludes. Therefore, you may want to destroy all other ships in a large battle and leave the one you want to steal remaining, before targeting its engines and board.

Starfield is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and initially released worldwide in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
