Starfield – Emissary or Hunter Guide

starfield emissary or hunter

In this guide, you will learn the consequences of siding with the Emissary, Hunter, or neither while playing Starfield.

Note: This article contains spoilers.

Each of the characters’ motives and backstories are secret for much of the game, but their presence hints at a greater purpose that is eventually revealed.

Should You Side with the Emissary or the Hunter?

The Hunter is an alternate reality version of Father Aquilus, whom you spoke to about the Unity. This seems to contradict things as the two have different values and personalities.

But it returns to the lore regarding the multiverse and the mystical Unity artifact. People can be remade as Starborn in new universes by entering the Unity’s light.

If You Side with the Hunter

The Hunter presents an offer to help defeat the Emissary in the final battle, but only if you agree the artifacts in the game should go to whoever claims them first.

If you choose to side with Hunter, you will betray Keeper Quilus, killing him during a mission that the Hunter presents you.

By siding with the Hunter against the Emissary, you will receive the Eternity’s Gate beam rifle as a reward.

If You Side with the Emissary

The Emissary presents an offer to help defeat the Hunter in the final battle, but only if you agree the artifacts in the game should remain in responsible hands.

By siding with the Emissary against the Hunter, you will receive The Unmitigated Violence rifle as a reward.

If You Side with Neither

If you choose not to side with the Hunter or the Emissary, you will have to fight both during the mission “Revelation”. While this is more challenging, it allows you to collect both legendary weapons as a reward.

Comparing Rewards

Although the Eternity’s Gate beam rifle and The Unmitigated Violence rifle are some of the best weapons in Starfield, they each have their benefits. If you are planning to pick a side between the Emissary and the Hunter, read below to compare rewards.
