In this guide, you will learn how to make Caviar while playing Stardew Valley.

Caviar is one of the Artisan Goods that is used for crafting, healing, and selling.

How to Get Caviar in Stardew Valley

To get Caviar, you will first need to construct a Fish Pond (that takes up 5×5 space) from the Carpenter’s Shop. These are the required materials:

  • 5000g
  • 5x Green Algae
  • 200x Stone
  • 5x Seaweed

Green Algae can be found in freshwater or saltwater. It also drops from green slimes.

Seaweed is found in saltwater. The Beach is the best location to find it.

Sturgeon fish is required to produce roe for the pond. This can be found in the Winter and Summer seasons at the lake. Simply catch the fish and place it in the pond you’ve made.

Eventually, when you have enough Sturgeon roe, which converts to aged roe, put it in the Preserves Jar. After 6000 in-game minutes, the aged roe converts to Caviar.

During the waiting period, take your time and complete your other tasks on the farm. Don’t forget to check on the pond daily to see any changes. When it is ready, you will see an exclamation mark over it. When you click on it, you will notice that the Sturgeon is requesting something. Give those things to it in the pond and wait some more. This is how you will get roe.

Once you have made it, you can sell Caviar for 500g per jar or even higher (700g) for Artisan Profession. It’s also a nice choice for a gift since it is an artisan good. If not, you can eat it yourself!

Stardew Valley is a farm life simulation game developed by ConcernedApe and initially released in 2016 for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was later ported to Nintendo Switch in 2017, PlayStation Vita and iOS in 2018, and Android in 2019.
