One of the best ways to grow crops on your schedule regardless of the changing seasons is by using a Greenhouse. This allows you to take care of plants indoors and away from the elements.
How to Unlock the Greenhouse in Stardew Valley
When you start clearing away debris from your farm, you will notice some old ruins where a building used to be. This is what remains of the Greenhouse.
Complete all bundles in the Pantry by giving items to the Juminos to help restore the Community Center. Once this is complete, the Juminos will rebuild the Greenhouse overnight.
If you have replaced the Community Center with a Joja Warehouse, you must pay Joja and Moris 35,000 Gold for the Greenhouse option under the Joja Community Development Project. If this is complete, a crew from Joha will rebuild the Greenhouse.
What can grow in a Greenhouse in Stardew Valley
You can grow any type of crop inside a Greenhouse. Plants from different seasons will have no problems growing alongside one another. The only exceptions include Bee Houses and Giant Crops.

Fruit Trees also grow well inside a Greenhouse, on the edge outside of the usual boundaries. To ensure they grow, place the trees at least two spaces apart (with each in the center of its own 3×3 square), and do not place any decorations or paths. After they finish growing, you can put decorations and paths between them.
Best Greenhouse Layouts and Setups in Stardew Valley
The Greenhouse building will take up a 7×6 space on the farm. If you do not like its natural location, Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop can move it for you once construction is complete.
There is a 10×12 farmable plot of land. Because this is an indoor habitat, you need to be aware of several important items of note when growing crops here.
- Rain will not water them.
- Scarecrows do not need to protect them.
- They will never get hit by lightning.
- You can grow crops from any season at any time, simultaneously.
The maximum number of trees that can be grown inside the Greenhouse is 18.
Sprinklers do not fit perfectly in the plantable area, but several setups are considered ideal. Always ensure there is at least one space between a given Sprinkler and a growing tree.
