Each barn you place on the farm takes up a 7×4 space, no matter how far you upgrade it. To move the barn, speak to Robin outside of town, ask to build new buildings, then choose the ‘Move Buildings’ option in the bottom right.

How to feed animals in Stardew Valley
In order to raise healthy livestock on their farm, players will need to tend to the animals in the barn.
Animals must be fed one portion of hay or fresh grass every day, except for the first day they arrive (born, hatched, or purchased) or on festival days.
If players fail to feed their animals, they will not die but will stop producing products.
The sale price of all animal products increases by 20% if you have the Rancher Profession.
How to care for animals in Stardew Valley
Allowing barn animals to roam outside will help improve their mood, as animals require sunlight.
While outside, barn animals eat fresh grass growing on the farm as long as they can reach it. This counts as their daily portion, so they will not eat hay from the player’s stash. Even if they can reach the grass, they may not find it. If so, they will eat hay instead.
Animals will not leave the barn, even if the door is open, under particular conditions. If it’s after 6 PM if it’s Winter, or if it’s rainy, stormy, or snowy.
Around 6 PM, animals return to their assigned building to go to sleep. Close the doors at this time to prevent the animals from escaping in the morning prior to interacting with them.
Barn animals left out may be attacked by wild animals at night. If this happens, the attacked barn animals will be removed from the farm, leaving the rest of the animals in a negative mood.
