Star Wars: The Acolyte Is Now In Production, Casting Revealed

Disney+ announced the production cycle of Star Wars: The Acolyte has begun, but it’s also shared the official cast list for the new series, including Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game) and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix).

This news dropped on StarWars.com in addition to multiple behind-the-scenes images of Stenberg, Jung-Jae, as well as Leslyle Headland, the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of The Acolyte. Before, Headland worked on various other series, including Terriers, Russian Doll, and Heathers.

Star Wars: The Acolyte takes place during the last days of the era of the High Republic and also includes Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slims), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna’s), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), and Dean-Charles Chapman (1917).

According to the official description, “The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller taking viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with a Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they end up confronting are far more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

The High Republic, which has been explored in recent times through comic books and novels, takes place some 200 years before the occurrences of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
