Square Enix Is Axing A Whole Bunch Of Mobile Games

Onama Studios, formerly referred to as Square Enix Montreal, is going to shut down this week in addition to many of its mobile titles. These games have been announced before the final day, November 24. They include Arena Battle Champions, Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes, which will all shut down by January 4.

The mobile games are being taken off of the App Store and Google Play Store on December 1. Yet, the players that have already downloaded them can continue to play until January 4. As of today, there will be no more in-game purchases available, and Onoma has encouraged everyone to make use of their prior purchases before the January shut down.

Its become commonplace for live service mobile games to shut down after several years. Fortunately, though, other titles in the Go series, including Hitman Go and Lara Croft Go, will not be affected by the studio’s closing.

Embracer Group acquired Onoma earlier in the year along with several other western studios as part of Square Enix and was rebranded last month before recent news that the mobile studio would be closing for good.
