According to Deadline, actress Sophie Turner, most famous for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is in talks to star as Lara Croft in Amazon’s high-profile series adaptation of the popular gaming franchise Tomb Raider.

The Tomb Raider live-action show is being helmed by Emmy award winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). Turner was among many of the actresses who tested for the high-profile role, previously portrayed on the big screen by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

Waller-Bridge is heavily invested in the project, saying “Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats ‘n all,”.

Tomb Raider is executive produced by Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson through dj2 Entertainment, Michael Scheel, and rights holders Legendary Television as well as Crystal Dynamics. Amanda Greenblatt and Ryan Andolina are consulting producers under their Star Party banner. The series is produced by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios.

Currently, Turner, an Emmy nominee, headlines the British crime drama series Joan and will be starring in another British show, Haven, for Prime Video. She is repped by CAA, Independent Talent, and Hansen Jacobson Teller.

Fans of Lara Croft who wish to watch the iconic archaeologist beyond the games can check out the recent Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series for Netflix, which got decent reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
