Sonic Prime Season 2 Arriving In July

SEGA confirmed a new season of Sonic Prime for its latest TV series featuring the blue blur. It is set to air on Netflix on July 13, 2023. In this show, Sonic the Hedgehog spin-dashes through a journey across dimensions with friends and rivals.

In a similar fashion to Sonic Frontiers, the recent core entry in the video game franchise, Sonic Prime tells a story of a multiverse in which SEGA’s iconic hedgehog traverses various realities after the Paradox Prism, a mysterious crystal, breaks during a battle between Dr. Eggman, the main series villain, and Sonic.

With the Prism shattered, the universe splits into the Shatterverse. As Sonic passes through it, he meets different versions of his friends, including Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Rouge, facing new challenges with the goal of repairing the damage by gathering pieces of the crystal.

In addition to announcing the Season 2 premiere date, fans also got a fresh new preview featuring Sonic and some other familiar friends in a new setting.

Sonic Prime is a computer-generated animated series produced by studio WildBrain, SEGA, and Marza. Deven Mack stars as series protagonist Sonic the Hedgehog, Ashleigh Ball as Miles “Tails” Prower, Brian Drummond as Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, Adam Nurada as Knuckles the Echidna, Kazumi Evans as Rouge the Bat, and Ian Hanlin as Shadow the Hedgehog and Big the Cat.

The show joins a series of modern adaptations for Sonic as his new films debuted in 2020 and 2022, with both achieving massive box office success. As a result of the success of the films, SEGA has announced they will be planning to adapt more games in the future. It comes as no surprise, seeing as how The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023) became the highest-grossing film based on a video game ever made.
