After several months of speculation, Konami confirmed during its Wednesday presentation that a proper remake for Silent Hill 2 is in development. The game opened the Silent Hill Transmission showcase with a truly incredible trailer.

It appears to be completely reconstructed while maintaining the integrity, design principles, and feel of the original 2001 version.

Viewers are given a modernized look at James Sunderland, a man who has journeyed to Silent Hill to save Mary, his wife that has been long-declared dead. Certain signature elements from the series appear in the trailer, including the foggy streets and the return of Pyramid Head.

Currently, Silent Hill 2 is being developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami as an exclusive for the PlayStation 5. It is only one of several Silent Hill projects in the works at the moment, in addition to Silent Hill F, Silent Hill: Ascension, and a film adaptation of Silent Hill 2.

Special collectibles are also available, such as an Inu-End a coin bank that gives headway to the joke ending of the original Silent Hill 2.

As a series, Silent Hill has not seen a major release over the past 10 years. These announcements have brought back a resurgence of excitement and interest in the popular survival-horror franchise.
