Crazy Taxi was among the array of new SEGA titles revealed to be receiving the modern treatment at a trailer shown off at The Game Awards 2023. According to sources, the reboot will be a ‘AAA’ game.

Although Crazy Taxi has recently received a mobile spin-off, the last core entry on console/PC was Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller.

Despite several sequels, most gamers only remember the first entry, even though the PC port excised the soundtrack dominated by Bad Religion and Offspring.

With only a glimpse of gameplay shown off during that teaser, indicating a certain type of element and the ability to get into other vehicles including police cars and police cars, it remains unknown what form the Crazy Taxi reboot will take.

In an interview with Japan Times for a profile of the studio working on the game, which was only established a few years back near the end of 2021, the team claims it is “participating in the development of AAA titles, including Crazy Taxi.”

It’s likely that it will be rebooted as a fully open-world game like Jet Set Radio, with objectives to complete across a large map, quests, and a progression system.
