In the wake of corporate restructuring after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Sarah Bond has been made the President of Xbox.

Bond is tasked with overseeing the entire Xbox platform and its ongoing relationships with developers, studios, and creators, according to a memo acquired by The Verge. Bond has worked for Microsoft since 2017 and previously served as Corporate Vice President.

In response to the news on social media, Bond wrote that she felt honored. What’s more, she has received high praise, congratulations, and support for her promotion.

As the new President of Xbox, Bond is overseeing many teams across devices, platform engineering, data and analytics, business development, strategy, player and creator experience.

In addition, Matt Booty, head of Microsoft Game Studios, has been promoted to President of Game Content and Studios. This new role has him in charge of overseeing operations of ZeniMax and Bethesda.

Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, stated in a memo to staff that ZeniMax’s role will continue as a “limited integration entity” led by Jamie Leder, who now reports to Booty.

Microsoft Chief Marketing Officer Chris Capossela, who was in Phil Spencer’s email regarding a possible acquisition of Nintendo, is departing the company after 22 years.

About a month ago, there was a leak regarding Microsoft’s tentative roadmap going into 2030, including a cloud-hybrid console. Xbox executives came out and said that this info came from old documents, meaning there’s a chance they may not be relevant. However, the leak gave a glimpse at the potential future of the company.
