Rockstar Is Keeping Role-Playing Servers Alive, NFTs Not Allowed

In a new statement, Rockstar Games, the developer of some of the best open-world franchises, will continue to allow role-playing servers for Grand Theft Auto Online. However, if users create content through loot boxes or NFTs/cryptocurrency, they will face legal action.

As posted on the company’s support page, Rockstar considers role-playing servers to be part of the “rich array of community-created experiences within Grand Theft Auto” and hopes that it will “thrive in a safe and friendly way for many years to come.”

Just like single-player mods, servers will not be limited in terms of how they act or what they will be allowed to do. Yet, the importation or misuse of Rockstar’s intellectual property for financial gain will not be tolerated. This includes things like creating new stories, missions, games, or maps.

The company concluded by saying that “Take-Two reserves the right to object to any third-party project, or to revise, revoke, and/or withdraw this statement at any time in their own discretion. This statement does not constitute a waiver of any rights that Take-Two may have with respect to third-party projects.”

Grand Theft Auto V was initially released in September 2013. However, it has been ported to modern systems, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
