A recent trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet reveals the ability for trainers to craft their very own Technical Machines (TMs).
In the past several months, Nintendo has been slowly disclosing new details surrounding the upcoming title. Trailers showcasing new mons like Klawf and Wiglett while also demonstrating the new open-ended structure of the Gyms, battles against members of Team Star, and hunting Titan Pokemon.
Another 14 minutes of gameplay was shown off by Nintendo along with plenty of details, including open-world exploration, new evolutions, and the ability to share a picnic with Pokémon.
Furthermore, the gameplay showcased a new mechanic known as Terrastalization and the way it influences random encounters, gym battles, and Raids. Several other mechanics include the “Let’s Go” command that skips the time it takes to complete a traditional encounter by using the lead Pokemon to defeat wild enemies.
However, the latest and greatest feature to come to the world’s attention for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet includes the revamp of Technical Machines (TMs). Unfortunately, they cannot be used infinitely anymore like you were able to in Sword and Shield.
Although this may come as a major disappointment to many fans, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet circumvent the restriction through the introduction of a crafting system for TMs rather than simply finding them scattered throughout the land or earning them from specific battles.
The crafting system is straightforward and lets players visit specific areas in which they can interact with Technical Machine Machines. Utilizing materials that enemy Pokémon drop after capture, defeat, or from League Points, players can craft specific TMs from an unlockable list.
On the left-hand side, you can see which party Pokémon can utilize the TM while on the right side, you can see the details of the TM in addition to the resources necessary to craft it. What’s better, players can craft as many copies as they want as long as they have the resources.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are Nintendo Switch exclusive releases set to come out on November 18, 2022.
