There are various methods to farm Stardust in Pokémon GO. However, to maximize your rewards across all these methods, it helps to use a Star Piece. This item provides a 1.5x multiplier to Stardust received in general.
Catching Pokémon
The simplest way to accumulate Stardust is by catching Pokémon.
- Base Rate: 100 Stardust/Catch
- Base Rate + Weather-Boosted: 125 Stardust/Catch
- First Stage Evolution (e.g., Charmeleon): 300 Stardust/Catch
- Second Stage Evolution (e.g., Charizard): 500 Stardust/Catch
Certain Pokémon grant more Stardust per catch than others. Here are the specific ones that give bonus Stardust:
- Paras – 500 Stardust
- Parasect – 700 Stardust
- Meowth – 500 Stardust
- Alolan Meowth – 750 Stardust
- Persian – 700 Stardust
- Alolan Persian – 950 Stardust
- Shellder – 1000 Stardust
- Cloyster – 1200 Stardust
- Staryu – 750 Stardust
- Starmie – 950 Stardust
- Delibird – 500 Stardust
- Shroomish – 500 Stardust
- Breloom – 700 Stardust
- Sableye – 750 Stardust
- Chimecho – 1000 Stardust
- Combee – 750 Stardust
- Vespiqueen – 950 Stardust
- Audino – 2100 Stardust
- Tribbish – 750 Stardust
- Garbodor – 950 Stardust
- Foongus – 500 Stardust
- Amoonguss – 700 Stardust
The first Pokémon you catch per day is worth 1800 Stardust. By maintaining a 7-day streak, you will receive a 9000 Stardust bonus.
Hatching Pokémon
The amount of Stardust you will make per Pokémon hatched depends on the egg.
- 2km egg (400-800 Stardust)
- 5km egg (600-1600 Stardust)
- 7km egg (800-1600 Stardust)
- 10km egg (1600-3200 Stardust)
- 12km egg (3200-6400 Stardust)
The ideal method for maximizing the amount of Stardust via hatching Pokémon is to accumulate 12 12km eggs and then hatch them all at the same time with a Star piece. This results in an instant reward of 57,600-115,200 Stardust.
Opening Gifts
Opening gifts received from trainers on your Friends list is the easiest way to farm Stardust without even really playing the game. While some gifts do not drop Stardust, those that do will reward 300 Stardust on average.
If you open the daily cap of 30 Gifts, you can receive up to 9000 Stardust per day using this method alone.
PvP Matches
GO Battle League
The amount of Stardust you earn via the GO Battle League depends on how often you win. You will also receive a reward at the end of a given season depending on how many battles you partake in.
By winning in the GO Battle League, your rank will increase, as will your Stardust rewards. You can earn as little as 2000 in Rank to as much as 200,000 at Rank 24 (Legend). With the help of a Star Piece, you will multiply this by 1.5x.
Team Leaders / Friends
If you prefer something more casual that does not require climbing the ladder, you can battle your Team Leader or a local friendly battle.
- Great League Team Leader (300-600 Stardust)
- Ultra League Team Leader (400-800 Stardust)
- Master League Team Leader (500-1000 Stardust)
- Local trainer battle (500-100 Stardust)
