The 2023 PlayStation Showcase event finished, revealing tons of exciting news about upcoming games for the PS5 and PS VR 2 and some new accessories.

Here’s the best of the coverage from the hour-long press meeting.

Project Q Handheld & Wireless Earbuds

Of everything revealed at the presentation, the biggest item of note is none other than the Project Q device, a handheld similar to Xbox’s Backbone peripheral. It’s essentially a controller with an 8-inch screen in your hands that will stream PlayStation games over Wi-Fi via PS Remote Play.

In addition, Sony offered a look at the company’s first official pair of wireless earbuds with lossless audio quality for both PS5 and PC.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

A new entry in the Metal Gear Solid series, known as Delta: Snake Eater, will be arriving on PS5 soon. It’s Konami’s big remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 and has tons of nods and easter eggs referencing the original title.

Spiderman 2 Gameplay Reveal

The sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to arrive in Fall 2023 and will release as a PS5 exclusive. Just as the 2018 Spider-Man game and Miles Morales (2020) both saw PC releases later down the line, the odds are good that Spider-Man 2 will receive the same treatment at some point.

Bungie’s Return to the Marathon series

Bungie has now officially shown off a trailer for its first new project in over ten years. The game, Marathon, is a PvP extraction shooter with sci-fi themes. While Bungie developed a series called Marathon well before the years of Halo and Destiny, the trailer makes this entry look like a new beginning.

The player assumes the role of mercenaries called Runners, donned in all kinds of fancy cybernetics.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

The next expansion to Destiny 2 is going to be called The Final Shape, and as the name suggests, it will serve as the stunning conclusion to the decade-long saga between Light and Darkness. A brief trailer showed off the return of Cayde-6, the Exo Hunter Vanguard who seemingly died during the events of the Forsaken expansion back in 2018.

Voice actor Nathan Fillion will be reprising the role of the character. Bungie will be live-streaming more info about the expansion during a broadcast set to take place on August 22.

Beat Saber is coming to PlayStation VR 2

Beat Saber is probably the most popular and successful title of all time for virtual reality. We know it’s John Carmack’s (former CTO of Oculus VR) favorite experience, and the 2023 PS Showcase announced it’s available now on the PS VR 2.

Those who own a copy for the original PS VR will receive a free upgrade, according to Sony’s trailer for the game.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is coming on October 12

The next core entry in the award-winning historical action-adventure Assassin’s Creed series, named Mirage, will be coming on October 12. A new trailer finally gave audiences a glimpse at the gameplay.

Given that Mirage is confirmed to take place in Baghdad during the 9th century, it makes sense that protagonist Basim Ibn Ishaq only uses a single blade that requires the sacrifice of the left ring finger.
