Peter Molyneux, a director and designer, known for establishing the ‘God Game’ genre, now resurfaces to discuss his latest and greatest title.
In an interview with GameReactor, Molyneux stated that his next game includes a mechanic never seen in the history of the industry.
I feel like we are exploiting that mechanic in a world and an environment which may be familiar to people. And because it is in a familiar environment, it’ll be a lot fresher…And a lot of this is very mystical because I’m trying to avoid to tell you what it’s like. But it’s going to be a lot more like a kind of Fable, Black and White, Dungeon Keeper kind of experience.

After working at Lionhead Studios from 1997 to 2012, Molyneux left the Microsoft-acquired company to work at a small studio called 22cans. The best-known works of 22cans include Godus and the Trail.
Molyneux has finally admitted that in past game announcements, he would take things to an extreme to try to make people believe his next title would be “the most brilliant game in the world.” Fortunately, he has expressed interest in avoiding the hype train and making people potentially “annoyed and angry.”
He has explained in an interview with The Guardian that he never intends to mislead people on purpose. Rather, it’s his sweeping passion for concepts or ideas that he desires to take beyond technical limitations.
In recent times, Molyneux’s latest titles have been made for mobile, yet his latest could likely release on PC and console, according to the designer.
I’m not saying that we’re never going to do it on mobile, but we’re definitely leading on PC and console, mainly because we need the power.

What’s more, Molyneux has expressed how involved he is with this new title, which will represent the first game since 2001’s Black and White that he has programmed for.
22cans made headlines with its social media entertainment experiment known as Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube? (2012) and moving on to produce Godus (2014) via Kickstarter funding.
On Twitter/X, Molyneux confirmed the name of his upcoming title will be MOAT and set in Albion, the world established in Fable (2004). He also included a link to his new blog, confirming that he will be posting regular updates from there.
