More Persona games are coming to modern systems, and Persona 3 is the latest entry in the extremely popular Shin Megami Tensei sub-franchise to do so. In a recent Twitter post by Atlus, Persona 3 Portable will be officially released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on January 19, 2023.

Persona 3 was originally released in two versions, one on PS2 (with an enhancement called FES) and the other on PSP (Portable).

There are many differences between the two, but it seems Portable was favored over FES due to the inclusion of the female protagonist option, the ability to control all party members, and more difficulty modes.

Although it is being ported, we do not have confirmation on whether Atlus will be packing in the epilogue that was taken out of the original PSP version or other features present in FES.

After the grand commercial success of Persona 5, what was once a niche franchise has now blown up into a global phenomenon within the gaming industry. Not only did Persona 5 win Best Role-Playing Game at the 2017 Game Awards, but it is considered by many to be the best modern JRPG of the past decade.

Now, everyone is hungrier than ever to get their hands on past entries before Atlus finally gives us a new Persona game!

Persona 3 Portable is the latest title in the series to receive a modern port. However, Persona 4 Golden, the definitive version of the fourth core entry in the franchise, was brought to PC in June 2020, and, alongside Persona 3 Portable, is coming to other modern systems on January 19, 2023.
