According to industry insider Midori, developer Atlus is looking to bring Persona 1 & 2 to modern consoles. This is the same individual who also revealed the company’s plans for a possible Persona 4 remake.
In response to a post on X/Twitter, Midori acknowledged how excited Atlus likely already is knowing that fans highly desire a remaster of the first two entries in the Persona series.
Persona 1 was initially released in 1996 as Revelations: Persona for the PlayStation 1. It later got remade in 2006 as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona on PlayStation Portable.
Persona 2 was initially released as a duology as Persona 2: Innocent Sin in 1999 and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment in 2000. The first game, Innocent Sin, was remade in 2011 as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 – Innocent Sin for the PlayStation Portable. The second game, Eternal Punishment, was remade in 2012 as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 2 – Eternal Punishment for the PlayStation Portable, but never saw a release outside of Japan.
As of the time of this post, it remains unknown if they will be full remakes or graphical remasters. When pressed for clarification on this matter, Midori said “to be safe, I will call it updated form for right now.” This essentially confirms that the projects may only be in their early stages.
