Overwatch 2 is the successor and free-to-play replacement to the original 2016 team-based shooter by Blizzard Entertainment. In addition to upcoming game modes meant to emphasize the PvE side of things, Overwatch 2 introduces new and returning heroes alike. Here is a full list of what to expect when playing.
Which characters will be returning in Overwatch 2?
Overwatch 2 sees the return of all 32 original heroes from the first game and introduces brand-new ones to the mix as well.
Who are the new heroes in Overwatch 2?
As of the game’s release, there are three new heroes to play as. They are as follows:
Junker Queen (Tank)
Junker Queen is the latest character to join the ranks of Overwatch’s tank heroes. She was first teased as the voice of the gates in the Junkertown map of the first game.
Now, she takes center stage as the new anti-hero of doom, wielding a massive pump-action shotgun and blade to keep enemies at bay.
Here is her complete toolkit:
- Scattergun – This shotgun deals incredible short-range damage.
- Jagged Blade – This blade does quick melee damage to wound enemies over time. It can also be thrown and instantly returned back to you.
- Commanding Shout – Increases Junker Queen’s health by 200 and all nearby allies by 100.
- Carnage – Allows you to swing an axe to deal damage over time to all frontal enemies in a cone.
- Ultimate: Rampage – Junker Queen charges forward, interrupting enemy healing and dealing damage over time.
- Passive: Adrenaline Rush – All damage over time abilities inflicted on enemies by Junker Queen passively heal her.
Kiriko (Support)
Kiriko is the latest character to join the ranks of Overwatch’s support heroes. She chose to forge her own path instead of aligning with the traditions of her family.
Her incredible burst healing and extremely accurate Kunai make her a formidable opponent in Overwatch 2.
Here is her complete toolkit:
- Protection Suzu – Grants nearby allies with temporary invulnerability and cleanses them of the majority of negative effects.
- Kunai – Throws a projectile knife that deals critical damage.
- Swift Step – Allows you to teleport directly to a chosen ally, including through walls.
- Healing Ofuda – Channels healing talismans that burst heal targeted allies.
- Ultimate: Kitsune Rush – Kiriko summons a fox spirit that charges straight, buffing all nearby teammates with increased movement, attack speed, and cooldowns.
- Passive: Wall Climb – Climb walls by jumping at them.
Sojourn (DPS)
Sojourn is the latest character to join the ranks of Overwatch’s damage heroes. She is the former Overwatch captain and has been a voice throughout the original game, narrating many of the first title’s PvE missions, including Storm Rising and Retribution.
She boasts quality mobility and versatile gameplay features that appeal to beginners and experts alike.
Here is her complete toolkit:
- Railgun (Primary) – Fires rapid projectiles at enemies to generate energy on hit.
- Railgun (Secondary) – Consume stored energy with a high-impact shot.
- Disruptor Shot – Damages and slows enemies within a concentration of energy.
