While Insomniac Games mostly dominated this year’s PlayStation Showcase with new gameplay for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a major studio for Sony’s console was notably absent – Naughty Dog. After much speculation surrounding the status of the studio’s new projects, the developer issued a statement saying that it’s working on a new single-player project in addition to a multiplayer spin-off of The Last of Us.
Many believed that because Naughty Dog confirmed a multiplayer experience set in the world of The Last of Us was announced in January, it would have a spot at PlayStation Showcase.
Instead, Naughty Dog decided to announce it’s working on a new single-player game.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed that it will be a new title in The Last of Us series, the probability is high that it won’t be another Uncharted game. This is because Neil Druckmann, the studio’s creative director, said a while back that they already knew what their next title would be and that the team was moving on from Uncharted.
