In the past few years, video creator Jimmy Donaldson, known by the alias ‘MrBeast,’ has become the most subscribed YouTuber in the world.
He has passed 100 million subscribers as of July 2022, but in recent times has overtaken long-time champion Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg, the Swedish let’s play creator.
On November 14, 2022, PewDiePie’s subscriber count was finally defeated by MrBeast, with several thousand subs growing at a steady rate, totaling nearly 112 million on his primary channel.
This makes MrBeast the most subscribed content creator as an individual person on the Google platform.
PewDiePie was the undisputed king of YouTube for nearly a decade and was only surpassed by a community channel known as T-Series in 2019.
Despite his success, MrBeast has been an avid supporter and loyal follower of PewDiePie from the beginning. While PewDiePie has somewhat retired from YouTube, he was ecstatic for MrBeast to take his reigns as the new king, urging him to continue publishing content consistently.
In his own words, PewDiePie stated:
“Come on, I’ve been retired for like 2 years now. I can’t wait for it to be over…that’s already he definitely deserves it. I hope he does it.”
During a competition, MrBeast was giving away a private island to celebrate his achievement of achieving 100 million subscribers. With his eclectic collection of over-the-top stunt videos, many wonder what he will do next.
