Facebook officially announced the company’s latest VR headset, Meta Quest Pro, the far more expensive alternative to the current Meta Quest 2 (formerly Oculus Quest 2). In addition, they released a full list of specifications for the device.

The Meta Quest Pro will cost customers $1,500 and will begin shipping on October 25. You can preorder the device now.

With such a hefty price tag and beefy tech specifications, it’s clear that the focus is on enterprises.

According to the official product page, the Meta Quest Pro has up to four times the resolution of the Meta Quest 2 and offers support beyond virtual reality to include augmented reality. This allows users to “create and collaborate in the virtual world while staying present in the physical world.”

In comparison to the Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro has an optic stack that is 40% slimmer with a superior gamut of colors. What’s more, the Quest Pro includes a Snapdragon XR2+ processor, spatial audio, 10 advanced sensors for virtual reality and mixed reality, along with 12GB of RAM. It offers the same 6 degrees of freedom.

The setup includes the same input featured in preceding headsets, such as the Touch controllers and charging cable. Users have full backwards compatibility with the library of experiences available on Meta Quest 2.

However, Meta Quest Pro provides a compact charging dock to easily fuel the batteries of your Touch Pro controllers and any model Meta Quest headset over USB-C. Furthermore, it includes a light blocker to immerse you in what your eyes see through the lenses.

For input, the Touch Pro controllers include a Snapdragon 662 mobile central processor, haptic feedback, and three cameras. The controllers can track themselves and do not rely on the headset.

Meta stated that the Quest Pro is meant to coexist with the Quest 2, but act as a creative space where there are far fewer limits. The experiences created on Quest Pro are meant to inform the content and features that will be added to entry-level headsets.
