At Meta Connect (formerly Oculus) 2023, the company introduced Quest 3, its third line of remote head-mounted display technology for pre-order, starting at $500. The product officially launches on October 10.
Unlike previous models that were primarily designed for virtual reality (VR), the Meta Quest 3 fully embraces mixed reality (MR) which combines augmented reality (AR) and VR features together in a single form factor.
In addition to the full reveal at the press conference, Meta announced that the Xbox Cloud Gaming library will be accessible on Quest 3 in December. The new headset comes in the following price tiers:
- 128GB ($500)
- 512GB ($650)
Pre-orders for the base model are available at major retailers. What’s more every pre-order of Meta Quest 3 will grant users access to Asgard’s Wrath 2, an experience coming in Winter 2023. The premium 512GB model will come bundled with a six-month subscription to Meta Quest+, granting access to two games per month.

The Meta Quest 3 is powered by a second-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage depending on which model you invest in. Its LCD screen boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and 2064×2208 resolution per eye with 3D spatial audio via stereo speakers.
Mixed reality is made possible by the RGB cameras that offer 18 pixels per degree, doubling the passthrough resolution of the Quest Pro and up to 10 times the sharpness of the Quest 2.
According to Meta, the Quest 3 is lighter than its predecessor and almost 40% slimmer. It comes with a pair of state-of-the-art Touch Plus controllers offering haptic feedback and support for hand-tracking out of the box. The headset supports connections for Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6.0.

The Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap offers a lightweight and compact replacement strap with a silicone cradle to equally distribute pressure and allows refitting with an adjustment dial. A base version starts at $70 but there is also an optional $120 version that includes a battery that extends playtime by up to 2 hours.

The Meta Quest 3 Silicone Facial Interface provides cushions that fit into the front of the headset. This material is resistant to perspiration and dust, which makes the pad simple to clean after long, heated play sessions.
