Characters
By default, 16 playable characters are available in Mario Tennis Aces. To unlock new characters as they become accessible, you need to participate in monthly online tournaments.
If you choose not to participate in the monthly online tournaments, new characters will unlock once the tournament concludes (likely via software update). Below is a list of characters that become available over time.

Courts
By default, the only playable court is the Marina Stadium. However, it does allow you to play on grass, clay, or hard surface. To unlock more courts, you will need to progress through Adventure Mode.
A new court unlocks when you complete each of the game’s five areas, which ultimately brings the total number of available courts to 8.
Each of the unlockable courts can be customized to allow for wacky hazards. You can simply play them without the hazards if you desire a change of scenery.
