Courses
There are two ways to unlock new courses. One method is by playing 18 holes at a course you have already unlocked. Another method is by playing Adventure Golf.
Play 18 Holes
Keep playing 18 holes on available courses to unlock a new course that lets you play 18 holes. For example, to unlock Ridgerock Lake, you can play 18 holes on Bonny Greens (one of the two default courses), then play Ridgerock Lake to unlock Balmy Dunes, etc.

Adventure Golf
Adventure Golf is a story mode that has you progressing through all of the courses to develop your character from a rookie to a pro.
Each time you progress onto a new course in this mode, the course will become available for quick play. This becomes more time-intensive than the alternative method (play 18 holes at each course) but allows you to build your character.
Furthermore, Adventure Mode allows you to learn the game’s mechanics.

Club Sets
Two new club sets are unlockable for each of the 16 golfers from the Mario Kingdom. For every 1,000 Character Points, you will unlock the Star Club Set for every 3,000 points, you will unlock the Super Star Club Set.
These club sets enhance the golfer’s power by 30 yards for each upgrade (up to 60 yards), providing the golfers additional spin while removing some of their control. This not only means the ball can be hit further, but shots can be shaped much better.
You can accumulate Character Points by simply playing the game. You will constantly gain points while playing as the character. It takes approximately 200 holes with each character to unlock the second set of clubs.
