Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP, a remaster of the original 2012 classic, will be released in 2024 after a delay from its original target of 2023.

Yoshimi Yasuda, producer of the game, recently confirmed the pushback for the release date.

A full remake of Lollipop Chainsaw, which exclusively came out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in the day, was first announced by Dragami Games back in 2022. The game, which received mixed reviews but became a cult classic, follows a high school cheerleader named Juliet Starling, who needs to survive hordes of zombies using nothing but a chainsaw and her pom poms.

Instead of a remake, Yasuda posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP would be a remaster based on fan requests. Although the news did not go over well with many, Yasuda confirmed the remaster would retain the story and character designs.

Yasuda has kept fans updated about the ongoing development efforts of the game, posting several updates to social media to show the improvements. Changes include shortened load times, adjustment of hit detection, and enhanced FPS/resolution.

Lollipop Chainsaw is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and initially released in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
