Henry Cavill Will No Longer Play Geralt After The Witcher Season 3

witcher season 4

From Season 4 of The Witcher onwards, Liam Hemsworth will be portraying Geralt of Rivia in the place of Henry Cavill.

Netflix made an announcement regarding the casting update and show renewal recently, with each of the male actors releasing their own statements. There appears to be no conflict involved, with the switch made in agreement with both.

Cavill made a post on Instagram in which he said, “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”

The Witcher is a television series adaptation of the original fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. A trilogy of video games based on the franchise was created by Polish developer CD Projekt Red. It tells the tale of a genetically mutated monster hunter.

The internet has not reacted well to this sudden and unexpected turn of events. Angry memes and confused gifs reached the top of the trends on Twitter. Eventually, people started to question the reasoning behind the decision, given that Cavill once described the role as “a dream come true.”

Remember, however, that Cavill is also known for portraying Superman in Man of Steel (2013) and the DCEU in general. People have speculated that his other responsibilities are taking his time away from the show.

Yet, others believe there may have been creative differences between him and the producers, as recent reports have surfaced claiming that some of the screenwriters of The Witcher were not fans of the original books and games.

Although there is no official confirmation as of now, fans can still be assured that Anya Chalotra will be reprising her role as the sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg.
