Netflix has officially announced that Laurence Fishburne, an Oscar-nominated actor known for his portrayal of Morpheus in The Matrix (1999) and What’s Love Got to Do with It (1993), will be cast as Regis for The Witcher Season 4.
Regis is a character introduced in the book Baptism of Fire, and is described as a “world-wide barber-surgeon with a mysterious past.” In Season 4, he will be teaming up with Geralt, who is now portrayed by Liam Hemsworth after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role.
In a statement, Fishburne said, “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.”
Season 4 will see the return of Anya Chalotra as Yenner and Freya Allen as Ciri, in addition to the debut of Hemsworth and Fishburne.
The story overview for Season 4 of The Witcher reads:
“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire–and finding one another again.”
Currently, no release date has been announced for The Witcher Season 4. However, production is set to take place early this year.
