Twitch may still be the world’s premiere platform for video game streaming, but it needs to stay on its toes. Kick, a new rival, has managed to poach xQc and Amouranth, both major influencers, within 48 hours of one another.
Felix “xQc” Lengyel, who initially rose to fame in 2016 as a professional eSports player for Overwatch, serving as Main Tank for the Dallas Fuel, eventually took to streaming full-time on Twitch. He recently signed a two-year $100 million non-exclusive contract with Kick to create content on the platform.
Less than 2 days later, Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, a cosplayer who initially rose to fame in 2016 as a content creator on Twitch, made an announcement she would join Kick. However, the terms of her agreement have yet to be brought to the public eye.
Acquiring such big names in addition to the insane revenue split of 95-5 for “normal” creators versus the 50-50 offer for most Twitch streamers is giving Kick a significant position in the streaming space in record time.
Even with non-exclusive contracts, both xQc and Amouranth will no longer appear on Twitch. This is due to Twitch’s company policy which states that you cannot cross-stream between platforms even when not monetizing.
