After a brief battle with cancer, Kevin Conroy, the famous voice of Batman for multiple generations of fans, passed away at age 66. His death was initially reported by Diane Pershing, the actress who portrayed Poison Ivy in the Batman Animated Series.

Conroy made his name in the 1990s, reprising the role of Batman across multiple DC Universe films, cartoons, and video games for many decades.
Considered the greatest voice actor to ever portray the dark knight, Conroy’s take on Batman has been seen in big-budget movies, including Justice League and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Finally, he also lent his voice to the award-winning Batman: Arkham video game series.
In a press release, Warner Bros. casting director Andrea Romano stated, “Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing–he was a dear friend for 30+ years whose kindness and generous spirit knew no boundaries…Kevin’s warm heart, delightfully deep laugh and pure love of life will be with me forever.”
Dozens of tributes have been pouring in on social media, as respected comic book writers, artists, and fellow voice actors who shared a recording booth with Conroy have shared stories of the legendary performer’s compassion and warmth.
Conroy goes down in history as the definitive Batman in all respects. He was born in Westbury, New York, on November 30, 1955. Alongside other veterans such as Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve, he studied at the prestigious Julliard School for the Performing Arts.
