After a long hiatus, the grunge band that Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, Speed, John Wick) played for, known as Dogstar, is reuniting for its first album in 23 years.

The news was first announced on Instagram, where the band has been posting updates on their time in the studio since creating an account about a year ago.

In the early 1990s, Dogstar was formed, featuring Keanu Reeves on bass. Even though he’s incredibly popular and successful in Hollywood, he continued pursuing his musical ambitions throughout the decades, touring with them until the early 2000s.

Dogstar’s upcoming album will be their first release since Happy Ending (2000). In one of their most recent Instagram posts, the band expressed gratitude for the praise they have received since the announcement of their return.

Furthermore, Dogstar has confirmed the new music will be dropping this summer with a plan to include live performances along the way. This new album has been created in collaboration with a new team, with the promise that the music will be the “most satisfying and meaningful batch of songs we’ve ever done.”

A music video will accompany the first single on the album. Reeves and the other bandmates have not given details regarding their upcoming performances. However, they will likely be heading back to the public stage very soon.

Last year, Dogstar played a private show for those who made the new album possible, but no public performances have been held since their prime days in the early 2000s.

Recently, Keanu Reeves starred in John Wick 4, reprising the role in the upcoming spin-off film Ballerina, set between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
