Just two months after the theatrical debut of Chapter 4, Lionsgate has confirmed the studio is working on John Wick: Chapter 5, which is in the early stages of production at this time.
During the studio’s most recent earnings call, Joe Drake, a Lionsgate executive, discussed the future of the popular franchise, revealing that the team has up to three John Wick projects in the works.
In his words, Drake said, “We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience.”
While fans can rely on the traditional film sequel with John Wick: Chapter 5, Ballerina is the first of the spin-offs arriving next year. However, a new television series called The Continental will be arriving soon to expand the world.
Both Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick: Chapter 4, and series star Keanu Reeves have expressed their openness to continue the story of the titular assassin.
